Bensons Gas Engineering Meet the Team

John Lloyd

Gas engineer, John Lloyd, has worked at Bensons for almost 32 years.

Gas engineer, John Lloyd, has worked at Bensons for almost 32 years. John started his Benson’s career working in the stores department, learning about electrical control panels and how to make repairs. He then moved into the pre-work area, building control panel backplates and preparing them for wiring. Next, he joined the wiring team, training to become an electrical panel wireworker; a role he enjoyed for ten years.

When an opportunity arose to retrain as a gas engineer, John decided to follow a different path. He attended a training centre to gain the relevant qualifications and has worked in this position for over 20 years and counting! We caught up with John to find out more about his role.

“Every day is different as we work with many types of gas appliance in domestic, commercial and industrial premises. It could be a basic service or an emergency breakdown or repair. This keeps the job enjoyable and fresh and is especially rewarding when I get involved with the design, planning and installation of new appliances and heating systems. As I move from site to site working on different jobs, the time goes quickly and is interesting and enjoyable. I’m continually learning and developing as new technologies are introduced, improving my skill sets along the way.”
